Start with the file, browser, and exact message.

Most problems fall into intake format, local storage, package opening, response matching, or device-limit categories.

A recipient cannot open the package

  1. Confirm whether the creator sent a self-contained .html or a .reviewpack.
  2. For HTML, save it to the device before opening. Some email services block JavaScript attachments; use an agreed file-transfer method instead.
  3. A .reviewpack is data, not a standalone double-click document, and it does not contain Reader. First open Reader from the product site over HTTPS or localhost, or use a locally served product copy, then choose the file. Do not rename it to HTML.
  4. For offline .reviewpack use, load Reader and its bundled assets once while the site is available, confirm it reopens offline, and only then disconnect. A first visit cannot work offline.
  5. Try a currently supported browser. Private mode and managed devices may restrict local files or downloads.
  6. If the package reports damage or a digest mismatch, ask the creator to export a new copy.

A draft did not return after reopening

Autosave is best effort, especially for directly opened local HTML. Restore the most recent downloaded .review.json draft. If no draft was downloaded and browser storage was cleared, the app cannot recover the missing response.

A response is rejected

Wrong project
Open the project that created the package.
Unknown package
The project may have been restored from an older backup. Inspect only; do not force-merge.
Manifest mismatch
The package or response may be damaged or changed. Re-export and repeat the review.
Unsupported schema
Use a compatible application version or migrate through a supported release.
Oversized response
Do not edit around the limit; contact support with non-confidential reproduction details.

A source file is rejected

Read the per-file reason. Version 1 supports JPEG, PNG, static WebP, and PDF only. An extension is not sufficient: the file signature and decoded content must agree. Convert a copy through a trusted source application when necessary.

Storage is low

  1. Export a current .reviewproject portable backup file and retain it outside browser storage.
  2. Open Storage and inspect exact unused-preview candidates.
  3. Delete only the confirmed candidates or projects you no longer need.
  4. Consider reducing preview dimensions or splitting a very large project.

The archive checksum can detect file damage during restore, but does not make the file archival or recoverable if every copy is lost. Cleanup cannot guarantee secure erasure and cannot restore content deleted by the browser or operating system.
